Diagnosed with "Atypical Development and strong autistic tendencies" and "too sick" for outpatient treatment Dr. Shore was recommended for institutionalization. Nonverbal until four, and with much support from his parents, teachers, wife, and others, Stephen is now a professor at Adelphi University where his research focuses on matching best practice to the needs of people with autism. In addition to working with children and talking about life on the autism spectrum, Stephen presents and consults internationally on adult issues pertinent to education, relationships, employment, advocacy, and disclosure as discussed in his books Beyond the Wall: Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome, Ask and Tell: Self-advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum, the critically acclaimed Understanding Autism for Dummies, and the newly released DVD Living along the Autism Spectrum: What it means to have Autism or Asperger Syndrome. Over the past decade Dr. Shore has made hundreds of presentations across six continents, almost 30 countries and 45 states to school systems, universities, parent groups, autism organizations, conferences and other events. Dr. Shore has co-presented with Dennis Debbaudt in Illinois, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Florida. His latest project involves collaborating with NYPD in creating a training video for when officers encounter individuals on the autism spectrum in their work. Kim Taylor was a Superior Court Judge in the 22nd Judicial District, Sixth Division of North Carolina for 20 years. The mother of a young man with autism, Judge Taylor played an integral role in getting autism spectrum disorder information added to the basic law enforcement training for the state of North Carolina. Judge Taylor has co-presented with Dennis Debbaudt for the Illinois Attorney General's Office in 2007 and 200 and conferences in North Carolina, Florida, Texas and Minnesota. Judge Taylor served as a subject matter expert for California POST's autism training video, spearheaded the development of the 
Bill Cannata is a Captain with the Westwood MA Fire Department and is The Autism and Law Enforcement Education Coalition Coordinator (ALEC). The ALEC Project is supported in part with funding from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Autism Spectrum Division. Bill has presented in tandem with Dennis Debbaudt and Judge Kim Taylor at conferences in Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Florida and is a consultant to the Autism, Fire-Rescue and Emergency Medical Services video. He has presented for the Alabama Fire Chief's Association and in other areas of the U.S. and in Canada.
Dr. Creedon is a Fellow in the American Academy of Clinical Psychology; member of the Panel of Professional Advisors for the Autism Society of America; former attending staff at the Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and director of the school and research at the Developmental Institute; early intervention specialist; and consultant to families and schools nationally and internationally, the Department of Education in Ireland. Currently she is a consultant for the Autism Research Institute and adjunct teaching faculty, DePaul University.
